PSU names Roelfs director of admission
PSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Steve Scott today announced the selection of Melinda Roelfs as director of Admission. Roelfs has served as interim co-director of the office since October of 2005.
"The university is indeed fortunate to have someone of Melinda's experience and talent to take on this important role," said Vice President for Academic Affairs Steve Scott. "Melinda has a clear vision for the office and her love for the university and its students shows in everything she does."
At PSU, the director of the Office of Admission is responsible for the recruitment and admission of undergraduate students, marketing and communication to prospective students; new student orientation and enrollment, coordination of the undeclared major program and operation of the Office of Student Diversity.
"I look forward to working with a great staff, my colleagues in Academic Affairs and the entire university community," Roelfs said. "I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Office of Admission as Pittsburg State University continues to excel in assisting students in meeting their educational goals."
Roelfs earned a bachelor of science degree in international business and a master's degree in business administration, both from Northwest Missouri State University. She joined the Pittsburg State University family as an admission counselor in 1997. Since that time, she has served as assistant director of admission for community college relations, associate director and most recently as interim co-director of the office.
Roelfs is active in both the Kansas and American Associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO and AACRAO) and is president-elect of KACRAO.
Melinda and her husband, Kiley, live in Pittsburg with their sons Drew and Grant.
