"Paint the Town Red" celebrates Family Day game
The Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations and Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce are getting ready for PSU’s first home football game with a little splash of color.
The two have teamed up to promote “Paint the Town Red,” a community-wide competition to see which businesses in Pittsburg have the most team spirit. Other events this week include:
Red Rally at Gorilla Village, Thurs., Sept. 11, 6 p.m. – Enjoy music with Panama Jack and get fired up with the PSU Spirit Squad, Gus Gorilla, and PSU football players and coaches. Free pizza and drinks.
Wear Red Day, Friday, Sept. 12 – The PSU Prize Patrol will be on campus with great giveaways for students, faculty and staff wearing red. Paint the Town Red judges will also be out for the Business Decorating Contest and to give out prizes.
8 a.m. – Balloon Launch Breakfast at the College Lake Gazebo
9 a.m. – Official Paint the Town Red Balloon Launch at Carnie Smith Stadium
4 p.m. – Colonial Fox’s “Festival on Broadway,” featuring games for children, a popcorn contest, sidewalk chalk art and live music. At midnight, an outdoor showing of “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” will be held.
The PSU vs. Missouri Southern State University football game will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Carnie Smith Stadium. In recognition of Family Day, the Honorary Family will be introduced.
