Music Department welcomes musicians for TUBACHRISTMAS

The Pittsburg State University Department of Music will host a Christmas concert this weekend that will welcome performers from throughout the Four States.

The department will present 2007 TUBACHRISTMAS Concert and Sing-a-Long at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Northpark Mall in Joplin. TUBACHRISTMAS is an open concert that invites community members who play tuba, euphonium, or baritone to perform. TUBACHRISTMAS concerts are held in cities throughout the nation during the month of December. This year, concerts will be held in 13 different cities in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

The day begins with registration at 10 a.m. at the Webb City High School band room. Rehearsal will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon, when performers will move to the Sears Court of the Northpark Mall for the afternoon show.

Registration is $5 and includes a 2007 TUBACHRISTMAS button. Cost for music is $12, unless performers already have a copy of “TUBACHRISTMAS Carols” (2nd ed.).

The community is invited to attend to the free performance. For more information, contact Doug Whitten at 620-235-4070 or visit the national TUBACHRISTMAS Web site at
